Selection of topic was always a dilemma
When all looked up to me time and again
But i never complained
After all this was nice burden

When pointing wrong was not an offence
Learning from better one's was the rule
Leaving bad habit was the tool
Every-time things did conclude happily

Some memories are always sweet
As i write this blank mind is no longer blank
Thoughts are flowing
Thoughts which make me smile

Now i can see compassion many times around me
what i miss is people whom i could say anything
what i miss is innocence attached with the smile
May be equally nice moments are there to be added
But for now i am listening sounds from memory lanes


p.s : This blog entry is dedicated to all college friends who participated to make our weekly group discussion we fondly called c_tec discussion memorable for me ( a story in itself ). So many sweet memories attached with the same. Elbowed out saga is the icing on the cake from c_tec discussion . I would make actors of this "saga" read this blog entry.

Life will continue..........adios college

image : jungle/short-cut in our college , streets we shall never walk again.

This blog entry is too small to capture my college days (about to end in 1 months, 15th may 2009). This is my attempt to say "good-bye" to my college "BIT, Mesra , Ranchi". Weird means are being used to make it part of ever lasting memories (they can-not be explained here for obvious reasons ). We all know these are the best days of our life , so we don't want to regret , "are!!!...ye nahi kiya.....wo nahi kiya....".

When we came here , most of us had pain in their heart for not clearing IIT-JEE. Many had cleared , but the AIR (all-India rank )was not good enough to get desired IIT or wished "branch" at IITs. We had many dreams , and next four years were to be experienced here at BIT Campus (very beautiful , with tons-and-tons of trees).

The summary of our life here , can be represented by slightly modified song from the movie " hazaaron khwahisein aisi...."

"streets we had never walked,
windows we had never opened,
hands we had never held,
Dreams we shall never see again."

We did walk on many streets of life , never walked ; always studious guys became "masti" loving groups. Many windows were opened , me turned from "so-formal-guy" into "halla-gulla-guy" (many phases of this transition). Hands never got held though (love-life), at-least for me :P (by the time i thought about this , it was too late to try, some attempts resulted into failures ) .Many got successful and gave their quantum of college-life to someone "special". We have already dreamt many things , completing them will be life long process , these dreams won't be dreamt any longer.

The final tribute goes in the form of following words, thanks to college for....

"lives we have lived,
hopes we had never realized ,
fires we have lit ,
loves we shall never never make again."

May all good things remain with all of us for the whole life .We just hope , all "bad" things gained here are no longer part of our life after college (bad habits go ....slow :P )

Adiós college :(

no-one can-not control the time. Time is dirty , takes away good times from us. again i will use my favourite consolation statement

"all good things have to end and become yaadein".Life continues .....even god can-not change past, but future is to be made.

p.s : @ appu , i don't know how much "emosanal-atyachar" has been done in this blog entry , but one thing for sure , college-life "summery" remains same for all "college-goers" at the end of college. So you read this now and "weep-buckets" at the end of college days (not near ....so enjoy for the time being). your bundles of tissue papers are safe for now :D

Mid-semester exam.......

Exam time...
So for me , time to perform another exam ritual( 28th feb. ) . Mid-semester exams are here, my last in "becoming-engineer" life( 8th and final sem this is ). One important statistic regarding theory papers exam , this will be 81st time i shall be writing theory paper mid-sem/end-sem exam ( no offence to so many lab. viva/performance/lab quiz exams ) .Surviving so many exams is demanding and this took 3 and 1/2 years (long time ) .

Before joining (BIT) , i used to hear what life in engineering college is , from seniors . Now , i have experienced all those things ( time to give juniors ,funda , how to live engg. life ). So , funda was simple , give your best during exam days ( cram is the keyword ) .No need to torture oneself 2 weeks before the exam , and certainly not to bother what is being taught in the classes. It took me sometime to adjust to new setting , and selective study became "mantra". Other path was to become "loadu", "maggu ", "frustu" , " padhaku" ( desi words for studious guys ) . I was never "cool" nor "studious" , middle path i chose .Whatever , my next 10 days are busy days ( study days ) , i just wish the exam time passes fast . Looking forward to normal "day-to-day" life ( 7th march , mid-sem ends ).

Looking back , last one week was eventful here in our college . There was cultural fest ( BITOTSAV' 09 ) , 18th to 23rd feb . Very entertaining days were there , i.e heritage night , music night , dance night etc. to name a few . I enjoyed music night very much, it was good to listen to "music talents" of our college. However, best moment came when "Band of Boys" came in our college on 23rd night. Everyone enjoyed so much , all "non-dancers" ( including me ) danced a lot. I can say i never danced so much in my life , and that too besides the stage "band of boys" were performing will be easily part of my "yaadein" from my college days.

My Computer ......2 years old

This blog entry is dedicated to my computer , and i am using my computer to do this blog entry . So as the title suggests , my computer is with me since last two years . To be precise , on 15th Jan , i bought this beautiful invention of mankind from ranchi , Ranjan electronics ( in daily market ) . I am happy last two years have passed successfully without any big problem for my computer ( leaving aside some minor problem with UPS ).

So in two years me and my computer have spent together numerous hours . Only happy moments i can remember . Challenging moments were also there when i tried my luck with linux . Searching for solution of linux related problem , whole new world was waiting for me . I know i have utilized computer to good measure , still there was better scope . I regret , more hours i should had spent with programming . I can's imagine what my life would had been if i was living without computer for last two years .

Before closing , i know this computer is with for next for next 4 months . After that my sister will be owner of this computer . I shall try to make next few months memorable as far as my friendship with My computer is concerned . I wish my computer happy birthday!!! happy birthday to u...and this blog entry is your gift !!

LAN/Internet.....Two Years in BIT , MESRA

New year is here and time to continue with life as a blogger .So here i am with my first blog entry this year . Today LAN /Internet facility becomes two years old in BIT, MESRA . Life was never same since start of LAN/Intrenet. Campus lifestyle changed completely . This blog entry tries to specify the changes and know how "DC++" ," nick ", "IP" , "slow net speed " became as important as sleeping and eating.

Steve Jobs once said , "computer is networking ", and now i can say how correct he was . yes , without network computer is nothing . Story started with workers coming to our hostels with instruments to spread lan wires in our hostel ( during september 2006 if i can remember correctly ). In january LAN was working in new year 2007 . A new era had begun silently . Softwares , movies , songs , "above 18 videos" were available with click of mouse . Who can forget " TSR " (DC++ name of our 2k3 senior ) as he was responsible for running " BIT Hub " 24/7 and sharing more than 100 GB data ( huge in those days ) . People started discussing problems on main chat ( main chat was also used for time pass bakwas , we love this even now ) . Boyfriend-girlfriend chat became easier . Lets' not forget " Counter strike ", "DOTA " , Pocket tank , Moto GP , AoE, FIFA , players who made game as their life . Some were able to come out , some are still trying to be better Gamer ( Best of luck to them !! ) . To sum up what i can remember

1. Tanatan , Waves , Duldul , -..GrIm_ReApEr..- , gogeshwar , are immortal names and they were founders of " interesting video " suppliers group (endangered species ) .

2. College events used LAN heavily for promotion purpose (only ) .notably ACM went online and was great experience for everyone .

3. user count was 414 , during india-barmuda match during world cup 2007.

4. AMTAN , showed live cricket matches on LAN , congrats to them .

5. Internet became part of everyones' lifestyle , and many switched to LINUX ( another story ) , and local repository of linux was created ( good work by ntweat (nickname) ) .

6. There are two types of users , one who use torrent or whatever to download and share , others just use those shared data . Hey! but spirit of sharing is not less though ( great ) .

There are many more things to add , may be next year i can remember more things as i won't be using BIT's internet , which i am doing right now . Because we all know ," we miss somethings most if we don't have them ". Long live BIT's LAN /INTERNET .

Project Presentation.....7th Sem

I had semester project presentation today . This had elements of hindi masala movies , suspense , thrill , heart break , action , emotion , co-operation , anger , loss , gain , resentment and finally hope ( next semester presentation will be better one ) .

Build up to the presentation day was very interesting . Everyone ( confused ) was talking about what we have to prepare for presentation ( ppt and project report ). I prepared both the document with alot of help from net . Anks ( my project partner ) did the editing part ( he did well this time !! ) . But Microsoft word and OpenOffice are still not compatible with each other ( Same will be story in future i.e people using OpenOffice will face difficulty getting printout of their document as printout shops will always use microsoft word ( God knows why ? ,if there is any god ) ) . I exhausted ( failed to keep my otherwise composed approach ) while editing as Microsoft word did provide ample problems to do so .That is why project report lacked things as simple as highlighting . Still anks did good work reading the document again and again for error .

I would like to talk some points about the masala mentioned in first paragraph .

Suspense : Many groups didn't prepared Project report , most made same on the spot . But first group had to face rebuke of teachers . This was heart break for some students as they had to cancel their " home going " tickets . Their presentation has been postponed .

Anger : Some students were angry about the no information about the project report preparation ( no information system of our college ) .

Thrill : I was associated with this . R was asked to bring notice from hostel notice board when he reported late for presentation claiming same was written in notice . One of the teachers did provide his bike for this to ravi . I was at " LITTI POINT " of BIT . I received call from VR and was requested to retrive power chord he had forgot in LAB 3 . Yes R was returning from hostel with notice at high speed . I waved to him to get lift , which he did give . Moving on insti road at relatively high speed ( and listening R's misadventure ) did provide thrill and action part to me .

Hope : This presentation did gave us experiance of what is called semester project presentation . One thing is very clear , no matter how well you prepare , one can not rule out probablity of unanswerable question from teachers in front of you . Hope is always there as they say " after all , tomorrow is another day " .

Co-operation : How can one forget co-operation part . Our ppt. and report was referred by many groups as reference for format of the report .

At last presentation is over for me , some groups will have their presentation in coming days . I know masala movie ( presentation ) will bring out other versions of same story in coming days . Finally , as they say , " tomorrow is another day ", but one can only wait for tomorrow .

Lab performance...

So again end semester examination is here ( 2nd last in my engineering career ) .
But alas! one has to face lab performances , viva , quiz ( mental torture and wastage of time in simple sense ).This process as they say , is for evaluating one's performance throughout the semester in particular lab. class . While the idea seems good but in BIT , this thing is far from good experience . specially in our department this will remain a mystery ( for ever )how they evaluate a student . But i would like to complement the teachers for asking good ( unknown ) questions during viva . A teacher with no / partial knowledge makes mockery of students ability ( i think most of them are better then the teachers ) . They try to look for question that a student can not answer . The world has really changed ( "guru- shisya " relationship has become bad ) . If you know the answer then they don't have time in this world to listen , if you don't know the answer , aha! it's time to face ugly face of the person in front of you ( teacher !! i disagree ) .

However everything is not bad about sessional papers ( as these lab classes are called ) . These lab. classes and exam related with same, brings social person out of you . You have to rely on others to write lab. file . And to get the program executed during the performance test one has to depend on others ( i relied heavily this time ). Tomorrow there is last lab performance ( wireless communication lab . ) ,another chapter will be closed and end sem exam perparation period is officially open ( i hope i start perparing from same day ).
More things will be added in this blog in next few days as some demanding times are ahead.

Neha agrawal ( olympian ) in BIT

Hey i have something to add to my blog . Neha agrawal was in BIT MESRA for inter university level TT ( All india ) competition . For the readers who are still confused , neha agrawal is TT player and represented INDIA at Beijing olympics . So it was good opportunity to watch some good table tennis . I cashed on this opportunity by getting neha's autograph ( this was first time i took someone's autograph ). I had seen only on TV people giving and taking autographs . Obviously i was nervous before asking for the autograph ( will she or won't she? ) . Getting courage to walk up to a national level player and asking for autograph will be one of the sweetest memories from my stay at BIT mesra .

So,i invested sometime watching the tournament . Thanks to BIT's no information system i had no information that this tournament is being organised in our college and neha agrawal ( big player at this level ) will be here . I would like to thank Rajeev(u'll never know about him) for giving information about this ( he did give info about neha as well and we all knew how gorgeous she is by watching olympics and youth commonwealth games ) .
So a small project ( watching neha play and getting 'the' autograph ) was open .
On 11th Nov. i , ankur , and debjit went on our mission .NO ! no neha agrawal there . we stayed there watching some matches for about 1 hour . Project remained incomplete . Next day evening !!! there was graphics viva . i retuned around 5:30 pm from institute .after having snacks in mess i went to watch the tournament . Project day 2 , yes!! neha was there and playing her match . Some tamilnadu girl was giving her good fight . No big deal however , she was able to defeat her . After the match she was relaxing in corner seat. Good time to get autograph ( i have seen this in many tennis matches ) . i moved on and asked her for the same .mission complete !! autograph was taken on "the times of india" page containing neha agrawals photo . many girls ( they were participants ) asked for the newspaper (cutting)( now with the autograph ) to read what is written about neha ( it was an article published in Times on 8th Nov. ) . Finally , neha had to play her next match . She lost !!! but not before showing so much frustration during the match . Still this will remain one of the memories to remember in my life . I know i shall be taking a lot of autographs in my life , and this will be first chapter in that story .

Some good things about neha agrawal , she was extremely polite while giving the autograph , she was so supportive towards her teammates , she has sweet voice as well and she is beautiful(and pretty and fair and gorgeous)(i can go on forever) . What more , i think she has a bright future if she can control her emotions during match , this was the reason which led to her loss here (i think so ) .

i would like to add something , me taking autograph became a news in 2k5 batch . everyone is asking about this ( actually everyone got floored by neha's beauty , she is more beautiful then required , she can be brand ambassador of any company like sania mirza if she is able to continue her good hard work , i wish her success ) .
. I think big player tag was playing in her mind as she tried to dominate and in the process made ample number of unforced errors to lose the match . While returning i had good feeling as well as sad feelings ( i got autograph , but she lost the match after giving the autograph ) .

Before saying bye , final words . Bengal won among boys and tamilnadu won in girls section of the tournament . Today the tournament has ended ( 13th nov) .

Microsoft Written test ...

Today microsoft have arrived in our college for placements . While i m writing this blog entry , results of written test are awaited . written test timing was 75 min . 4 questions each of 10 marks . Two questions are worth mention , such questions were missing till now in the placement process ( in the mean time i knew how stupid the placement procedure of almost all the companies ) .
First one :
It was about password management system (PMS) . 3 function prototype namely create password , changepassword , varify password . the question asked to generate different test cases scenario for the PMS .
It was really altogether different experiance writing the answer of this question . After long time i knew i was thinking ( otherwise most of the time i recalled things ) .
Second one :
aha !! security system of the home . one had to mention the various components which can be there in the system , and explain usability of the same . while answering the question i had " prison break " in mind .
Another refreshing experiance with another different sort of question . Yes ! microsoft placement is different from others ( no doubt better ) .
Other two questions were trivial : one on hashing ( i messed up this completely )
other on linked list ( not so tough , had recursion ) .

Even if i am unable to get to next stage , this written test will be one of the sweet memories in the placement procedure i went through here in BIT mesra.
