So finally, earth hour has passed (for most of us it meant, keep power off in home for 1 hour ....err 8:30pm to 9:30).Or for that matter many of us must have failed to notice this hour.hehe....nothing new. I was also taken off-guard when i did read blog entry of my "blog-friend" piper , on this.So earth hour is all about saving power saving earth by best method i.e spreading awareness.
For us "desi" people power off means , forced thing (everyday we celebrate many "earth hours" ). I wish situation when we will have enough power to light all the homes in India.Let alone 24hour supply , no electricity connection in large number of villages ,situation right now we have.
hey ..hey wait , how can we miss to celebrate "lights-off-life". Title of this blog entry has been borrowed from one news-paper article.1 year back they had similar article (better written obviously..hehe ). Even people living in "metros" must felt this thing. Power off means celebration time , socialize.In my "college-hostel" it's time to crack social jokes (we always do that....but with darkness all around ....special ). One memorable "no-lights-night" we had in 1st year (now 4th year).No power for whole night it was , next day we had to write exam. Group study was never so funny.....so many people reading with one candle. Many such groups that day were formed......disaster management :).
No power now-a-days means , no water as well , "so-beg-and-borrow" for water..hehe.Who can forget playing "antakshari" when no power is there (night).
Before closing , i just wish we (Indians) don't have to celebrate any more "life-without lights". We will celebrate "earth-hour" someday. No offence to people celebrating "earth-hour" now, but it doesn't mean anything to us right now. i will love to reach the time when this means something to us...when we will have 24 hour electricity supply. For the time being , let's watch "foreign-junta" celebrate this , next hour they will consume 20 times more electricity then most of us for sure.hey , but among us who are wasting power , do save it , for the sake of india in particular and world in general , plz do something folks.
